Archive and Oral History Project
I am a simple guy with a passion for Jesus and Justice. I work with MCC on the Archive and Oral History project (http://www.inourownwordsmcc.org) and serve alongside Mel Martinez, as a Co-Lead with MCC Transgender Ministries. I am currently a Religious Studies major and Sexuality Studies minor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I work with the LGBTQ center on campus and am very passionate about activism. I have taken part in the Soulforce Equality Ride twice and have recently expanded my activism internationally. During my free time I enjoy going to church, getting inked, and doing social justice… all in the same day if possible.

Mel Martinez is the Director of Online Services at Metropolitan Community Churches (MCC) and Co-Leader for MCC’s Transgender Ministries.
Mel has worked with transgender, HIV & AIDS, and MCC Worship resource development, research and programming since 2005.
In addition to local church and denominational ministry, Mel hopes to engage the subjects of gender, spirituality and religion in doctoral study. After many years of exploring self and spirit, Mel celebrates a diverse gender identity including genderqueer, trans-identified, and female.
